Vocal Fellows Program

Above: At OBFCS 2016, Estelí Gomez performs a song created by composer/performer Brent Lawrence, who is also playing in his work as guitarist.

The OBFCS Vocal Fellows Program offers vocalists the opportunity to work with Grammy-winning soprano Estelí Gomez, our mentor and director of the program. The selected vocalists will participate in a wide range of activities and offerings:

• master classes and rehearsals mentored by Estelí Gomez;

• concert performances of works by participating composers or composer/performers throughout the symposium;

• a concert performance of a work from the repertoire;

• participation in all activities outside of the Vocal Fellows Program, which are offered to all participants.

Under the mentorship of Estelí Gomez, OBFCS Vocal Fellows will prepare music by composers or composer/performers who are symposium participants, as well as a repertoire work if they so choose. Each Vocal Fellow will prepare several works for concert performance. Symposium composers and composer/performers will attend the mentored rehearsals for their pieces. Thus, our Vocal Fellows will give performances of music by OBFCS composers, as well as performances of repertoire pieces.
