Vocal Fellows Program

The OBFCS Vocal Fellows Program offers 8 vocalists the opportunity to work with Grammy-winning soprano Estelí Gomez, our mentor and director of the program. The selected vocalists will participate in a wide range of activities and offerings:

• master classes and rehearsals mentored by Estelí Gomez;

concert performances of works by participating composers or composer/performers throughout the symposium;

a concert performance of a work from the repertoire selected in consultation with Estelí Gomez;

participation in all activities outside of the Vocal Fellows Program, which are offered to all participants.

Under the mentorship of Estelí Gomez, OBFCS Vocal Fellows will prepare music by two composers or composer/performers who are symposium participants, as well as one repertoire work of their choosing. Thus, in total, each Vocal Fellow will prepare three works for concert performance. Symposium composers and composer/performers will attend the mentored rehearsals for their pieces.

Throughout the symposium, each Vocal Fellow will give two performances of their two works by OBFCS composers and composer/performers. Thus, our 8 Vocal Fellows will give a total of 32 performances of music by OBFCS composers, as well as 8 performances of repertoire pieces that they have chosen.
