FIREWORKS: Taimur Sullivan, Saxophone

Taimur Sullivan

Equally adept on each member of the saxophone family, Taimur Sullivan has won attention as one of the important voices of his instrument, garnering critical praise as "outstanding... his virtuosity supreme" (New York Times) and "not only dedicated and skilled, but also talented, fearless and sensitive" (The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel).

He has performed solo recitals in the United States, England, and Germany at venues such as Carnegie Hall, and Montreal's Festival Lanaudiere. He has appeared as a soloist with the National Wind Ensemble, and the Nouvelle Ensemble Moderne. With his saxophone quartet, PRISM, he has been presented in concerto performances with the Cleveland, Detroit, and Dallas Symphonies Orchestras.

Taimur has given the premieres of over fifty works, and has performed with Ensemble 21, Ensemble Sospeso, Speculum Musicae, Mark Morris Dance Company, the Bang On A Can All-Stars, Absolute Ensemble, and Concordia Orchestra, and is a director of the ThreeTwo Festival.

He can be heard on the Albany, Innova, Capstone, Mastersounds, Zuma, and Bonk record labels. Taimur serves on the performance faculty of Columbia University.
