FIREWORKS: Julian Molitz, Percussions

Julian Molitz


Julian Molitz is an active freelance musician in New York City. Julian's percussion skills range from traditional orchestral instruments to drum set and a wide variety of percussion instruments from around world. A strong proponent of electronic percussion, Julian is one of the world's few active performers of the Theremin.

A native of Canada, he has played with the Canadian Opera Company, the Ottawa Symphony and the Windsor Symphony. In the United States, Julian has performed with the New Jersey Symphony and the Berkshire Opera.

Julian has performed in many contemporary chamber music ensembles, including Forecast Music and The Ensemble where he was a featured soloist in Charles Wuorinenís New York Notes.

Julian has taught percussion and has served as an orchestra coach with the Manhattan School of Musicís preparatory division, and has instructed at the Youth Orchestra CYCNY. In 1999 he acted as tour conductor on the orchestraís Taiwanese national tour. Julian holds a Bachelorís degree from the Manhattan School of Music where he was a student of Christopher Lamb.
