FIREWORKS: Oren Fader, Guitars

Oren Fader

 

Oren Fader is one of New York City's leading guitarists. His playing has been described as "Electrifying" (New York Times), "Excellent" (San Francisco Chronicle), "Fabulous" (Oakland Tribune), and "Technically superb and musically adventurous" (Maui News). As a performer of classical and electric guitar repertoire, he has performed hundreds of concerts in the U.S., Europe, and Asia with a wide range of classical and new music groups, including the Met Chamber Ensemble (directed by James Levine), New York City Opera, New York City Ballet, Mark Morris Dance Group, New World Symphony, Absolute Ensemble, Cygnus, Fireworks, and Speculum Musicae.

Mr. Fader is well known for his performance of contemporary music, and has premiered over 50 solo and chamber works with guitar, and can be heard on 20 commercial recordings. Mr. Fader's has released two solo CDs, "Another's Fandango" (2003), and “First Flight” (2004).

Oren received his undergraduate degree from SUNY Purchase and his Master of Music degree from Florida State University. His major teachers include David Starobin and Bruce Holzman. Since 1994 he has been on the guitar faculty at the Manhattan School of Music where he directs the Guitar Chamber Music program.
